This year we will be focusing on classic short stories, novels, plays, poems, etc. from American Literature. This will involve a PBL (Project Based Learning) activity focusing on various text through the year along with the idea behind the American Dream. Along with the classics from American Lit, we will also be focusing on Shakespearean text during quarter 4.

Welcome to Salem
In Quarter 1 we will be reading different short stories and plays dedicated to the working of the Salem Witch Trials. Along with reading we will be researching what truly happened in the small town and the repercussions of rumors and lies. Finally a trial will take place where it is up to you to either prosecute or defend a witch.
Short Stories

This Quarter we will be diving into the world of American short stories. Focusing on themes, mood, tone, etc. of varying styles of literature. You will also be a part of your first MGP focusing on an aspect of today's world featured a long time ago.
The Great Gatsby

Welcome to the 1920's! Everything is Gatsby in this Quarter from the beloved reading to the MGP project focused on persuasion, the prohibition era, and the American Dream.
Shakespearean Comedies

Your class will vote on which Shakespearean comedy you want to read this quarter and take part in a PBL where in the end you will present your findings in front of the majority of the junior class!
